Morning Affirmations for Kids Afraid of Mistakes (Day 3)

By Eleaya Neveah

Good morning, and happy Wednesday! We made it to the middle of the week. If you already spilled something, forgot something, or said the wrong thing today, this one is for you. It is for me too.

Today's Affirmation

Mistakes mean I am learning, not failing.

I do not have to get it right the first time to be good at it one day.

Say It With Me

  • I am allowed to mess up and try again.
  • One wrong step does not ruin the whole dance.
  • I can laugh, take a breath, and start over.
  • Getting it wrong today helps me get it right tomorrow.
  • I am proud of myself for trying hard things.

Why I Need This One

I dance all the time, and I love learning K-pop dances. But I almost never get a new dance right the first time. My feet go one way and the music goes the other way. Sometimes I get so mad at myself that I want to stop.

It can feel the same way when I practice lines or sing in chorus. One wrong word or one wrong note can feel so big, like everybody heard it and nobody will forget it.

But here is what I keep learning. Every single thing I am good at now started out as something I was bad at. The mistakes were not the end. They were the practice. So today, if I mess up, I am going to say "oops," smile, and go again.

Your Little Challenge for Today

Pick one thing that feels hard for you. Try it today, even if you get it wrong. If you mess up, say "oops, let me try again" out loud. Then come back tomorrow for Day 4.

A Note for Parents

Tell your child about a mistake you made this week and what you learned from it. Kids are braver about their own mistakes when they hear about yours. Then read today's affirmation out loud together.
