Nightly Affirmations of a Child Model, Night 1: I Took My Shot
By Eleaya Neveah

Good night! You already know I share my morning words in my Daily Affirmations series. Now I am starting something for the other end of the day. Mornings are for getting brave. Nights are for being proud of what you did with it. So every night I am going to share the words I say right before I go to sleep.
Tonight's Affirmation
I took my shot today, and I am proud of the girl who tried.
A yes opens a door. A not yet does not close me.
Say It With Me
- I showed up as myself today, and that was enough.
- I have stood in front of the camera before, and I belonged there.
- Every door I knock on is a brave thing I did.
- I do not have to look like anyone else to be chosen.
- I can put today down now and rest.
Why I Need This One
I got to model for Tanya Taylor, and nobody handed me that day. I practiced, I showed up, and I earned it. On the nights I start to doubt myself, I think about that.
A lot of modeling and acting is waiting. You send your pictures and your tapes to agencies and casting people, and then it gets very quiet. Bedtime is when the quiet feels the loudest. That is when I start wondering if they liked me.
So at night I remind myself that trying was my part, and I did my part. The answer is not mine to carry to bed. What is meant for me is already on its way.
Your Little Challenge for Tonight
Before you fall asleep, name one brave thing you did today. It can be tiny. Maybe you raised your hand, tried out for something, or said hi to someone new. Say it out loud, and then say, I am proud of me.
Come back tomorrow night for Night 2.
Sweet dreams, with all my heart, Eleaya Neveah 💖
A Note for Parents
At bedtime tonight, ask your child to tell you one brave thing they did today. Then tell them one brave thing you saw them do. Say tonight's affirmation out loud together before the lights go out.
