A Little Girl's Dream: Why I Want to Work on a Tyler Perry Movie

Hi, it's Eleaya Neveah. 💖

Every little girl has a dream. Mine is to hear "action" on a Tyler Perry set.

When I watch a Tyler Perry film, I see families that feel real. They laugh loud, they argue, they pray, they forgive, and they show up for each other. Those are the stories I want to help tell, because they make people feel seen.

He built his own door.

I also admire how he got there. Mr. Perry didn't wait for someone to open a door. He wrote his own stories, kept going when things were hard, and built his own studio in Atlanta where so many actors have gotten their start. That tells a little girl like me that dreams are built with faith and hard work, one step at a time.

I'm taking my steps now.

I played Rita in The Therapist, and I've filmed commercials for Children's Hospital of Richmond, CBN, and String Ring. Every time I'm on set I learn something new: how to listen, how to take direction, how to be ready when the camera rolls. I sing, I dance all the time, and I bring that energy to everything I do.

The role I dream about.

What I want most is to play a character with heart. A daughter, a granddaughter, a kid with big feelings and a big voice. The kind of role that makes somebody in the audience say, "That's just like my family."

Saying my dream out loud.

So this is me saying my dream out loud. To Mr. Perry, and to the producers and casting team at Tyler Perry Studios who bring these stories to life: if you ever need a young actress who works hard, loves to learn, and will give every scene her whole heart, I'm ready.

It's a little girl's dream today. I'm working to make it real.

With love, Eleaya Neveah 💖
