Morning Affirmations for Kids Who Feel Nervous (Day 6)

Good morning, and happy Monday! A brand new week is starting, and Mondays always give me a few butterflies. New week, new schoolwork, maybe a new audition. Sometimes my hands get a little shaky before something big. Today I want to talk about that nervous feeling.

Today's Affirmation

I can feel nervous and still do my best.

Butterflies just mean I care about what I am doing.

Say It With Me

• My butterflies mean I care.
• I can take a deep breath and slow down.
• I do not have to be perfect to do my best.
• Nervous and brave can live in the same heart.
• I have done hard things before, and I can do this one too.

Why I Need This One

Before an audition, my tummy does flips. Before chorus, my voice sometimes feels small. I used to think that meant I was not ready.

Then I learned that even the biggest stars get nervous. The butterflies do not mean you are not ready. They mean you care about doing a good job. Now when I feel them, I take three slow breaths, I smile, and I tell my butterflies to fly in a line.

Then I walk in anyway. Most of the time the nervous feeling melts away once I start. And when it does not, I still finish, and I am proud of the girl who did it nervous.

Your Little Challenge for Today

The next time you feel butterflies today, put your hand on your tummy, take three slow breaths, and say "Nervous just means I care." Then do the thing anyway. Come back tomorrow for Day 7.

A Note for Parents

When your child says they are nervous, try not to rush to say "don't be nervous." Tell them it is normal, and that it shows they care.
